Liverpool: A Tale of Two Cities

A Tale of Two Cities

I didn’t think it was possible, but Chuka Ummuna’s description of Mayor Joe Anderson as a great example when people ask what a Labour Government in action would look like, is becoming increasingly ridiculous.

He said: “I can point to somebody like Joe Anderson because he’s enterprising and [his council], like all the other authorities, has been subject to cuts, he’s not allowed to run a deficit, but has been doing really creative things in the economy over there.”

Does he mean that it’s a good thing that Joe has been bankrolling the rich from the city’s reserves while butchering the services of the needy?

A Church of England charity has described England as one of the most unequal countries in the western world and said Liverpool has five of the most deprived areas in the country.  It names Toxteth (East); Anfield,; Toxteth (West), Heyworth Street, Queens Road.

This is before a further £156million pounds worth of butchery is implemented.

I wonder does Chuka still hold the same opinion after reading the Church of England report. In any case Chuka is acting as a great recruiting sergeant for TUSC.
